Guided Reading Levels
What feedback are you receiving about the guided reading levels of the now First Graders? The students who are qualifying for Reading Recovery? As well as the students who were reading beyond grade level expectations? Are you satisfied the information you provided is sufficient or do you think we should be doing something differently? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Some of my low ones I thought were low are even more behind now then in June. It made me a little worried about how I am teaching reading and writing. Sally suggested that I start language groups with my kids during center time. During language groups you review and discuss a prior story, project, poem, etc. and get all the students talking and extending their learning. I am going to start them in October once the kids are familiar with centers and the expectations. I'll keep you posted.
